The IRS-1 protein (Insulin Receptor Substrate 1) is a cytoplasmic adaptor that transmits insulin and IGF-1 receptor signaling into downstream PI3K/Akt and MAPK cascades. Phosphorylation at serine 612 is a regulatory mark associated with mTOR feedback, serine-kinase stress responses, and the development of insulin resistance in metabolic and tumor contexts. This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the phospho-S612 epitope of human IRS-1 and is validated for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue. It cross-reacts with mouse and rat orthologues and is supplied unconjugated at approximately 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline containing 0.05% sodium azide at pH 7.2. Researchers use the 100 µl vial to probe IRS-1 activation status in diabetes and obesity models, in tumor sections where IRS-1 drives growth-factor signaling, and in neuroscience studies of central insulin resistance.
