Raised in rabbit against the L789 region of IRS-1 (Insulin Receptor Substrate 1), this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets a key adaptor protein in the insulin and IGF-1 receptor signaling cascades. IRS-1 propagates signals from activated receptor tyrosine kinases through the PI3K/Akt and MAPK pathways, and the L789 epitope sits in a C-terminal portion of the protein frequently probed in metabolic and diabetes research. The reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide (pH approximately 7.2), and is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples. Researchers commonly apply it to study insulin resistance, glucose uptake, and downstream phosphorylation events in cell culture and tissue models. Each vial contains 100 µl of antibody, and the polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes, useful when probing denatured or partially degraded lysates. The unconjugated format allows flexibility in choosing secondary antibodies and detection chemistries suited to a particular experimental design. Keep refrigerated; for longer-term storage, aliquot and freeze to preserve activity.
