Raised in rabbit against insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS-1), this polyclonal antibody recognizes an epitope designated G630 in the human IRS-1 sequence. IRS-1 is a cytoplasmic adaptor protein phosphorylated by the activated insulin and IGF-1 receptor tyrosine kinases, and it couples those receptors to downstream PI3K/Akt and Ras/MAPK signaling cascades that govern glucose uptake, cell growth, and survival. The unconjugated reagent is supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) containing 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2, and is validated for immunohistochemistry (IHC) and immunofluorescence (IF) applications on human, mouse, and rat samples. Each vial delivers 100 µl of antibody for staining fixed tissue sections and cultured cells; aliquot upon first thaw and refrigerate between uses, protecting from light to preserve binding activity. From Antibodies.com, this reagent is broadly used in metabolism and signaling research, including studies of insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes pathophysiology, and IRS-1 serine/threonine phosphorylation dynamics in obesity, cancer, and growth-factor signaling models.
