Anti-IL6 Antibody [8E10]

IL-6, also called B-cell stimulatory factor-2 (BSF-2), is a cytokine that plays a role in the differentiation of B-cells into immunoglobulin-secreting cells. It is produced mainly by T-cells, macrophages and endothelial cells in response to pathogenic stimuli during infection, trauma and the growth phase of certain cancers, and is up-regulated when Toll-like receptors bind to antigen pattern ligands. During the acute inflammatory phase, IL-6 contributes to increased body temperature by initiating synthesis of Prostaglandin E2 in the hypothalamus.

This Mouse monoclonal antibody (clone 8E10) targets IL6 and is unconjugated. It is of the IgG2a isotype, raised in Mouse, and supplied in lyophilised form. The reagent reacts with Human samples and has been validated for ELISA, WB and FC applications.
