This unconjugated mouse monoclonal reagent, supplied by Antibodies.com under the S3F12 clone designation, binds human Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), a 17 kDa pro-inflammatory cytokine encoded by the IL1B gene and matured from a ~31 kDa precursor through caspase-1 cleavage. Supplied as a 100 µg lyophilised pellet, the antibody is intended for ELISA and Western blot workflows in research use only. Its IgG1 isotype pairs cleanly with anti-mouse secondary reagents, and the unconjugated format leaves reporter choice open, allowing labelling with HRP, biotin, or fluorophores to suit the assay.

IL-1β sits at the centre of inflammasome-driven signalling, driving fever, leukocyte recruitment, and the amplification loops that underlie autoimmune disease, sepsis, and chronic inflammatory disorders. Researchers characterising inflammasome activity commonly track both the full-length 31 kDa pro-form and the cleaved 17 kDa mature fragment in lysates from activated macrophages or monocytes, while ELISA-based quantification of secreted IL-1β provides a complementary readout in cell-culture supernatant. The antibody is reactive with human IL-1β and is not validated for mouse, rat, or other species; for cross-species work, an alternative reagent should be selected.

Reconstitute the lyophilised product in sterile ultrapure water to the working concentration indicated in the accompanying datasheet, then divide into single-use aliquots before freezing. For routine bench use, store reconstituted aliquots refrigerated and protect from light to preserve activity. For long-term archives, keep frozen at -20°C, and limit freeze-thaw cycles to maintain binding affinity across repeated experiments.
