This primary antibody from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against Interleukin-4 (IL-4), supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide at approximately pH 7.2. The unconjugated antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) applications and shows reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples, making it useful for comparative immunology studies across rodent models and human cell systems.

IL-4 is a pleiotropic cytokine central to Th2-mediated immunity, influencing B-cell class switching to IgE, mast cell activation, and the alternative activation of macrophages. Researchers commonly use this reagent to investigate cytokine signaling and allergic inflammation pathways in lysates from cultured cells and tissue homogenates. The polyclonal format provides recognition of multiple epitopes on the IL-4 protein, which can be advantageous when probing denatured targets on a western blot membrane.

The 100 µl vial arrives refrigerated and should be kept cold during routine use; aliquoting is recommended to limit freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity. Sodium azide is included as a preservative to prevent microbial contamination during handling.

This reagent is intended for research use only and is not for diagnostic or therapeutic applications.
