This unconjugated rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com selectively binds the alpha subunit of the interleukin-3 receptor (IL-3Rα, also called CD123), a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that heterodimerizes with the common β chain (βc) to assemble the high-affinity IL-3 receptor on hematopoietic lineages. The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid, raised in rabbit, and validated for Western blot and ELISA workflows against human samples, with reactivity confirmed on targets that carry the full-length receptor.
Investigators working on acute myeloid leukemia use anti-IL-3Rα reagents to distinguish leukemic stem cells, which overexpress CD123, from normal hematopoietic progenitors that show lower or lineage-restricted surface levels. The same target is a focal marker in studies of blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm, where aberrant CD123 expression informs immunophenotypic panels, and in basophil and mast cell biology, where IL-3Rα engagement amplifies IgE-mediated signaling and supports effector cell expansion at sites of allergic inflammation.
For storage, aliquot the reagent and freeze to limit freeze-thaw cycles; refrigerated handling is appropriate for short-term active use, and protecting the vial from light preserves antibody activity over multiple experiments. Researchers examining Th2-driven inflammation rely on this reagent to probe IL-3-dependent JAK/STAT activation and downstream effector functions in eosinophil and basophil populations. The polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes across the extracellular domain, an advantage when working with patient-derived primary cells or formalin-fixed tissue from published leukemia cohorts, where receptor glycosylation and isoform usage can vary between donors.
