The Antibodies.com anti-IκB-α reagent is a rabbit polyclonal antibody raised against the N-terminal region of IκB-α encompassing residues 32 and 36, the canonical IKK phosphorylation sites within the inhibitor. IκB-α holds the NF-κB transcription factor in the cytoplasm, and upon cellular stimulation the protein is phosphorylated, ubiquitinated, and degraded by the proteasome, freeing NF-κB to enter the nucleus. Detecting IκB-α by Western blot, immunohistochemistry, or immunofluorescence therefore reports on the activation state of this central inflammatory and survival pathway in human and mouse samples.

Shipped as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, the antibody is compatible with standard HRP-, fluorophore-, or biotin-conjugated secondary reagents. It is validated for WB, IHC, and IF applications. The polyclonal format increases the chance of recognizing multiple epitopes in the 32/36 region, including modified or partially degraded forms of the protein. Aliquoting upon receipt and limiting freeze-thaw cycles helps preserve long-term activity.

Reactivity has been confirmed against human and mouse IκB-α. The unconjugated format allows researchers to choose their own detection chemistry and supports multi-labeling experiments where combining two primaries of the same host species would otherwise be problematic. For groups working on inflammation, innate immunity, cytokine signaling, or NF-κB-driven transcription, this antibody offers a focused probe for IκB-α status in cell lines, primary cultures, and fixed tissue sections.
