Raised in rabbit against the insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE), this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µl at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (pH ~7.2) containing 0.05% sodium azide as preservative. IDE is a zinc-dependent metalloprotease that hydrolyses insulin, glucagon, amyloid-beta peptide, and amylin, and altered IDE activity has been linked in the literature to type 2 diabetes and to impaired clearance of Aβ in Alzheimer's disease research.

The reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples, allowing the same vial to be used across rodent disease models and human tissue archives. Aliquot on receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles and store at -20°C; for short-term bench use the vial can be kept refrigerated at 4°C for several weeks. With its rabbit host, polyclonal clonality, and unconjugated format, the antibody is suited to studies of proteostasis, amyloid processing, and insulin signalling pathways where endogenous IDE levels or localisation need to be tracked.
