This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets human Islet Amyloid Polypeptide (IAPP), also known as amylin, a 37-residue peptide hormone co-secreted with insulin from pancreatic beta cells. The reagent is supplied as an unconjugated 100 µl liquid aliquot and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, supporting detection of the ~4 kDa mature peptide together with the pro-IAPP precursor in cell and tissue lysates.

IAPP is the principal protein constituent of the amyloid deposits that accumulate in pancreatic islets during type 2 diabetes and is now widely studied in the context of amyloid cross-seeding with Aβ in Alzheimer's research. Laboratories apply this antibody to map IAPP expression in fixed pancreatic sections, monitor prohormone processing, and probe amylin aggregation states in disease models. The polyclonal format presents multiple epitope recognition sites across the peptide, which is useful when probing cleaved, modified, or aggregated forms that may obscure individual linear determinants.

Suggested starting dilutions fall in the 1:200–1:1,000 range for Western blot on pancreas or beta-cell line lysates and 1:100–1:500 for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, with each laboratory titrating against its own positive and negative controls. Store refrigerated and protect from light, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles; aliquoting on first thaw is recommended for long-term stability.
