Anti-I kappa B-alpha Antibody

Directed against I kappa B-alpha (IκBα), this rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated reagent and is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence on human samples. IκBα acts as a key cytoplasmic inhibitor of the NF-κB transcription factor complex, sequestering NF-κB subunits in the cytoplasm under basal conditions. Upon cellular stimulation by pro-inflammatory cytokines, pathogens, or cellular stress, IκBα is phosphorylated by the IKK kinase complex, ubiquitinated, and degraded via the proteasome, freeing NF-κB to translocate into the nucleus and activate transcription of inflammatory, immune, and cell-survival genes. This reagent is used to monitor endogenous IκBα expression levels and study its phosphorylation and turnover dynamics in cell culture and tissue-based experiments addressing canonical NF-κB signaling. The unconjugated format also allows flexible pairing with fluorophore- or enzyme-conjugated secondary antibodies for detection in WB membrane imaging and IF microscopy workflows.
