Heat shock protein 60 (HSP60) is a mitochondrial chaperonin that assists in the folding and assembly of imported proteins, and it is widely used as a marker of mitochondrial integrity in cell biology research. This unconjugated mouse monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the conserved HSP60 chaperonin, with reactivity confirmed against human, mouse, and rat samples by Western blot, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemistry workflows.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of mouse IgG1 in a TBS (pH 7.4) buffer containing 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative. The glycerol-rich formulation protects the protein during short-term storage and reduces loss from repeated freeze-thaw cycles, helping preserve lot-to-lot consistency across extended projects.

Recommended applications include Western blot detection of the ~60 kDa chaperonin band, immunocytochemistry for visualizing mitochondrial staining patterns, and immunohistochemistry on fixed tissue sections. Because the epitope is conserved across the three listed species, the same vial can be used to compare expression in human cell lines, mouse primary cultures, and rat tissue within a single project. The unconjugated format allows direct coupling to user-selected fluorophores, biotin, or enzymes for custom detection schemes, making it a flexible reagent for mitochondrial protein studies, stress response assays, and chaperone localization experiments.
