Raised in rabbit against the human HSD3B7 enzyme, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets a key player in the alternative bile acid synthesis pathway. HSD3B7 (also known as CBAS1) catalyzes the oxidation and isomerization of 7α-hydroxylated sterol intermediates in the endoplasmic reticulum, and loss-of-function variants underlie congenital bile acid synthesis defect type 1, a neonatal cholestasis syndrome that presents with hepatomegaly and fat-soluble vitamin malabsorption. The reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry on human tissue, supporting studies of hepatic steroid metabolism, ER-resident enzyme localization, and cholestasis-related pathology in liver biopsy material. Supplied as a 100 µL vial of unconjugated antiserum, the antibody should be aliquoted upon arrival to limit freeze-thaw cycles and stored at -20 °C, protected from light, until first use. Its polyclonal format provides broad epitope coverage across the HSD3B family, which is helpful when probing evolutionary conservation among 3β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases or distinguishing disease-associated isoforms in patient-derived samples.
