Polyclonal rabbit IgG antibody raised against human 17β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 7, a dual-function enzyme implicated in estrogen biosynthesis and the elongation of very long chain fatty acids. This unconjugated primary reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl liquid aliquot and is validated for Western blot and flow cytometry workflows on human samples.

The target, HSD17B7, is an endoplasmic reticulum-resident oxidoreductase that converts estrone to estradiol and contributes to cholesterol biosynthesis through 3-keto-steroid reductase activity. Researchers studying steroid hormone metabolism, estrogen-dependent signaling, fatty acid elongation pathways, or placental biology use this reagent to detect endogenous protein levels in cell lysates and to characterize expressing populations by flow cytometry.

Because the antibody is unconjugated and of rabbit origin, it pairs readily with a broad selection of anti-rabbit secondary reagents (HRP, fluorophore, or biotin conjugates) and supports multiple downstream detection formats. The polyclonal nature of the reagent recognizes multiple epitopes across the HSD17B7 protein, which can improve signal in Western blot applications where a single monoclonal epitope may be compromised by sample denaturation.

Storage and handling: aliquot upon receipt and store at -20°C or below to preserve activity across freeze-thaw cycles, and limit the number of freeze-thaw cycles on the working stock. The 100 µl format is sufficient for several Western blot and flow cytometry experiments when used at typical immunoblotting dilutions.
