Polyclonal rabbit antibody raised against human HSD17B13 (hydroxysteroid 17-beta dehydrogenase 13), a lipid droplet-associated enzyme expressed predominantly in hepatocytes. HSD17B13 has attracted considerable attention in hepatology because coding variants that disrupt its enzymatic activity have been associated with reduced progression of chronic liver disease, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), as well as alcoholic liver injury and hepatocellular carcinoma. Researchers use this reagent from Antibodies.com to probe HSD17B13 expression and subcellular localization in liver tissue and in cell-based systems.

The antibody is supplied as 100 µl of liquid stock at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol. It is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, supporting detection of the target protein in human samples and studies of retinol dehydrogenase activity and 17β-HSD family biology. The host species is rabbit, the reagent is unconjugated for flexible secondary antibody and label selection, and the format is intended for research use only.

For handling, freeze at -20 degrees C in small working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light; the included glycerol acts as a cryoprotectant. Typical laboratory applications include immunoblotting of liver lysates and IHC staining of hepatic tissue sections.
