A constitutively expressed molecular chaperone belonging to the HSP70 family, HSC 70 (also called HSPA8 or heat shock cognate 71 kDa protein) participates in ATP-dependent protein folding, refolding of misfolded polypeptides, intracellular trafficking, and chaperone-mediated autophagy. This rabbit polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com targets the full-length endogenous protein and is supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, shipped as 100 µl per vial.

The unconjugated antibody has been validated for Western blot, where it typically detects a band near 70–71 kDa, and for immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue. Reactivity with human, mouse, and rat samples makes the reagent broadly useful across established cell-line panels, primary rodent tissue, and patient-derived specimens in studies of proteostasis, chaperone-mediated autophagy, cancer cell biology, and neurodegenerative disease models.

For storage, keep the glycerol-containing formulation at -20 °C in working aliquots to limit freeze-thaw cycles and protect from light when not in use. Sodium azide is included as a preservative, so appropriate care should be taken when handling live-cell preparations, and the 50% glycerol cryoprotectant helps maintain antibody stability across multiple freeze-thaw events.
