HPS5 (Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome protein 5) functions as a subunit of the BLOC-2 complex, which orchestrates trafficking to lysosome-related organelles such as melanosomes and platelet dense granules. Mutations in the gene that encodes this protein underlie Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome type 5, a disorder characterized by oculocutaneous albinism, bleeding diathesis, and pulmonary fibrosis in some affected individuals.

Produced in rabbits as a polyclonal IgG preparation, this unconjugated antibody recognizes the human HPS5 protein and is validated for Western blot detection. Researchers studying melanosome biogenesis, granule formation in platelets, trafficking pathways for lysosome-related organelles, and the molecular basis of Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome use this reagent in their workflows.

The antibody is supplied by Antibodies.com in a 200 µl volume; for optimal stability, store refrigerated and protect from light until first use. Given the protein's involvement in multiple organelle systems, the reagent is also useful for comparative studies of trafficking defects across patient-derived cell lines.
