Anti-HPS5 Antibody

Raised in rabbit against the human HPS5 target, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent is supplied by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl aliquot for use in western blot workflows. HPS5 encodes a subunit of the BLOC-2 complex (biogenesis of lysosome-related organelles complex 2), which acts with HPS3 and HPS6 in trafficking to melanosomes and platelet dense granules; loss-of-function variants are linked to Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome type 5, a condition marked by oculocutaneous albinism, prolonged bleeding due to storage-pool deficiency, and, in some adults, pulmonary fibrosis.

Because the antibody is unconjugated, researchers can pair it with their own secondary reporters, and the polyclonal format offers recognition of multiple epitopes on the human protein, useful when probing tissue lysates for expression of the BLOC-2 subunit. Routine storage at 4 °C is appropriate for short-term use; for longer intervals, aliquot and freeze at -20 °C to limit freeze-thaw damage.
