A polyclonal rabbit reagent from Antibodies.com targets Haptoglobin, the liver-derived acute phase glycoprotein that captures circulating free hemoglobin and routes it to CD163-bearing macrophages for clearance. Supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated antiserum, this reagent is validated for western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows and is reactive with human, mouse, and rat samples. Polyclonal recognition across multiple epitopes supports detection of the target under denaturing conditions in western blot and on fixed tissue sections in IHC, where Haptoglobin expression is examined in studies of hemolysis, anemia, hepatic injury, and acute inflammation. The unconjugated format leaves the choice of detection chemistry open, from labeled secondary reagents to biotin-streptavidin amplification or an in-house conjugate. Haptoglobin is a routine marker for hemoglobin scavenging capacity, and shifts in its circulating levels are read alongside other acute phase reactants during experimental inflammation, hemolytic challenge, and liver-disease models. Each vial is intended for research use, and small aliquots are recommended to limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles and preserve antibody activity across multiple experiments.
