Anti-Homer-1b / c Antibody

Offered by Antibodies.com, this rabbit polyclonal reagent is raised against the Homer-1b and Homer-1c splice variants of HOMER1 and targets the long, constitutively expressed isoforms of the postsynaptic density scaffolding protein. These isoforms carry the coiled-coil leucine zipper that drives Homer multimerization and tethers group I metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluR1α and mGluR5) to inositol trisphosphate receptors and other PSD-95 family partners, which is why Homer-1b/c antibodies are widely used to map excitatory synapse composition and activity-dependent remodeling in neuronal tissue.

The unconjugated antibody is supplied as a 100 µl liquid stock in a single-use vial and is validated for western blot on human neural lysates, immunofluorescence labeling of dendritic spines and synaptic puncta, and immunohistochemistry on fixed brain sections. Common research uses include studies of NMDA/AMPA receptor complex assembly at the postsynaptic density, plasticity-related changes in synaptic Homer content, and characterization of Fragile X and related neurodevelopmental disease models. Rabbit host and polyclonal clonality allow co-staining with mouse or guinea pig primaries in multi-label immunofluorescence panels.
