Description

Produced by Antibodies.com, this polyclonal reagent is raised in rabbit against hnRNP M and recognises an endogenous target with a molecular weight of approximately 78 kDa [S1]. The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen, achieving a purity greater than 95% as judged by SDS-PAGE [S1]. It is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS containing 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol [C0, S1]. The immunogen is recombinant full-length human hnRNP M, and the reagent detects endogenous levels of hnRNP M protein [S1].

Validated for western blotting (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC), the antibody reacts with Human, Mouse and Rat samples [C0, S1]. The hnRNP M proteins belong to the family of heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs), which bind nascent RNA polymerase II transcripts and contribute to transcript-specific packaging and alternative splicing of pre-mRNAs [S2]. The abundant M1–M4 proteins form a cluster of pre-mRNA binding proteins in vivo and bind avidly to poly(G) and poly(U) RNA homopolymers in vitro [S2]. They are members of the ribonucleoprotein consensus sequence family of RNA-binding proteins and possess an unusual hexapeptide-repeat region rich in methionine and arginine residues (MR repeat motif), which resembles a repeat found in the 64 kDa subunit of cleavage stimulation factor, a factor involved in 3'-end maturation of pre-mRNAs [S2]. Immunologically related M proteins have been detected in divergent eukaryotes, from human to yeast [S2].
