Mitochondrial 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA synthase 2 (HMGCS2) is the rate-limiting enzyme of hepatic ketogenesis, catalyzing the condensation of acetyl-CoA with acetoacetyl-CoA to form HMG-CoA, the committed step that channels carbon into circulating ketone bodies during fasting and prolonged exercise. This unconjugated polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit against the human HMGCS2 protein and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry, supporting investigations of fatty acid oxidation, fasting-induced ketogenesis, mitochondrial bioenergetics, and the rare inherited metabolic disorder HMG-CoA synthase deficiency. Each vial provides 100 µL of polyclonal antiserum, sufficient for probing liver and extrahepatic tissue lysates as well as fixed sections to map the tissue distribution and abundance of the enzyme across normal and disease states.
