Anti-HMBS Antibody

A rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com directed against hydroxymethylbilane synthase (HMBS), the third enzyme of the heme biosynthesis pathway. HMBS catalyzes the stepwise polymerization of porphobilinogen into hydroxymethylbilane, and loss-of-function variants in the HMBS gene underlie acute intermittent porphyria. The reagent is therefore useful for studies of porphyrin metabolism, hepatic heme synthesis, and erythroid differentiation models.

Provided as 100 µL of unconjugated antiserum in a vial, the antibody is validated for Western blot (WB) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) workflows. Reactivity has been confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples, so the same primary antibody can be carried across murine disease models and human pathology specimens without switching host species or clonality.

For immunoblotting, dilute into standard milk or BSA blocking buffer and probe whole-cell or tissue lysates; for IHC, apply to paraffin-embedded sections after heat-induced antigen retrieval. Brief centrifugation of the vial before opening recovers any liquid trapped in the cap and ensures accurate pipetting of the full 100 µL volume.
