Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied as an unconjugated primary antibody targeting the non-classical MHC class I heavy chain HLA-F (UniProt P30511, Gene ID 3134). The 50 µl liquid vial is intended for Western blot detection of endogenous HLA-F protein in human and rat samples, with expected bands near the calculated 39 kDa mature heavy chain.

HLA-F diverges structurally from classical HLA class I molecules: exon 7 of the gene remains untranslated, producing a cytoplasmic tail roughly 2 kDa shorter than classical HLA-I paralogues, and the protein is largely retained in the endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi apparatus via a C-terminal valine and RxR motif, independently of tapasin and TAP. Surface expression appears upon immune activation on B, T, and NK cells, on virus-infected cells, and on first- and second-trimester extravillous cytotrophoblasts. The 346-amino-acid heavy chain exists both as a β2-microglobulin-associated, peptide-loaded trimer and as a peptide-free open conformer that engages NK receptors such as KIR3DS1 and KIR3DL2, while the peptide-loaded complex docks the inhibitory receptors ILT2 (LILRB1) and ILT4 (LILRB2). The polyclonal format provides multi-epitope recognition of the heavy chain, which is useful when probing low-abundance endogenous levels in lysates prepared from B-cell lines, placenta, tonsil, fetal liver, or thymus tissue.

Each lot is provided as unconjugated IgG in a vial for storage at -20 °C; aliquot on receipt to limit freeze-thaw cycles. The reagent is for research use only.
