This rabbit polyclonal IgG antibody specifically recognizes HLA-DRB4, a beta-chain paralogue encoded within the major histocompatibility complex class II region on human chromosome 6p21.32. The target protein pairs with an HLA-DR alpha chain and the invariant CD74 (Ii) chain to assemble the alpha-beta heterodimer displayed on the surface of professional antigen-presenting cells, where it presents exogenously derived peptide fragments to CD4-positive T lymphocytes and shapes adaptive immune responses.

Provided by Antibodies.com as an unconjugated reagent in a 100 µl vial, the antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with an HLA-DRB4-derived immunogen and is supplied as a liquid IgG preparation optimized for detection in Western blot workflows. The reagent is reactive against human and mouse samples, giving band patterns in immunoblotting that align with the predicted molecular mass of the DR beta subunit, and it is intended for research use only.

Because HLA-DRB4 is expressed selectively in individuals carrying DRB4-containing haplotypes such as DR4, DR7, and DR9, reactivity is observed in human cell lines and primary tissue lysates bearing those alleles, while cross-reactivity in mouse reflects the recognized DRB orthologue. The antibody supports investigations into MHC class II-restricted antigen presentation, disease-association studies in autoimmunity including rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and type 1 diabetes, and transplant immunology workflows where donor-recipient HLA matching is critical.
