Raised in rabbit, this polyclonal IgG reagent is directed against the alpha subunit of the major histocompatibility complex class II molecule HLA-DP. Antibodies.com supplies it as a 100 µl unconjugated preparation in liquid format, with reactivity verified for human samples by western blot.

HLA-DPA1 encodes the α-chain of the HLA-DP heterodimer, a peptide-presenting molecule displayed primarily on the surface of professional antigen-presenting cells such as B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, and macrophages. The α-chain pairs non-covalently with the HLA-DPB1-encoded β-chain, and the assembled DP complex presents exogenous peptide antigens to CD4⁺ T-helper cells, contributing to adaptive immune surveillance. Polymorphism across the HLA-DPA1 and HLA-DPB1 loci has been linked to disease susceptibility, including chronic beryllium disease, Hodgkin lymphoma, and selected autoimmune conditions, keeping the gene a recurrent focus of immunogenetic and transplantation research.

For immunoblotting workflows, the antibody can be applied to confirm protein expression across human cell lines and primary tissue lysates. Storage at -20°C in small working aliquots preserves activity across repeated freeze-thaw cycles, and short-term handling at refrigerator temperature fits routine bench use. Intended for research use only, this reagent is recommended specifically for western blot detection of HLA-DPA1.
