The Antibodies.com guinea pig polyclonal antibody recognizes HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase, a viral RNA-dependent DNA polymerase encoded by the pol gene that converts single-stranded viral RNA into proviral DNA during early infection. The reagent is supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated IgG and is recommended at working dilutions between 1:500 and 1:2000 for Western blot detection of the characteristic p66 and p51 subunits (approximately 66 kDa and 51 kDa) of the mature heterodimer.

Validated applications include Western blot (WB), dot blot (DB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and ELISA. For Western blot, dilute in 5% non-fat milk in TBS-T and incubate membranes overnight at 4°C; for immunoprecipitation, pre-clear lysates and incubate with antibody for 2 h at room temperature before capture on Protein A/G agarose. Store the antibody in single-use aliquots at -20°C and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles; thaw working aliquots on ice and keep refrigerated at 4°C for short-term use within two weeks.

This reagent supports research on HIV-1 replication mechanisms, mechanism-of-action studies of reverse transcriptase inhibitors such as NRTIs, NNRTIs, and INSTIs, and characterization of RT mutants used in drug resistance work. It is for research use only.
