The Antibodies.com Anti-HIV1 Reverse Transcriptase Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal reagent supplied as 100 µl of unconjugated IgG, validated for western blot, dot blot, immunoprecipitation, and ELISA workflows. HIV-1 reverse transcriptase (RT) is the viral RNA-dependent DNA polymerase that converts single-stranded genomic RNA into proviral double-stranded DNA, and it exists as a p66/p51 heterodimer derived from the viral pol gene. Researchers use this antibody to detect the ~66 kDa and ~51 kDa bands of recombinant or virus-derived RT by western blot, monitor expression in transfected cell lysates, and investigate interactions with nucleoside and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors relevant to antiretroviral drug studies. Aliquot upon receipt and store at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve binding activity. The reagent is intended for research use only and supports in vitro applications such as immunoprecipitation of RT complexes from infected cell extracts and screening of novel antiviral compounds.
