The Antibodies.com Anti-HIV1 Protease Antibody is a rabbit polyclonal reagent raised against the viral aspartic protease encoded by the HIV-1 pol gene. HIV-1 protease functions as a 99 amino acid homodimer of approximately 11 kDa per monomer and is essential for proteolytic maturation of the Gag and Gag-Pol polyproteins, making it a key target in antiretroviral drug research. This unconjugated IgG antibody is supplied as a liquid in a 100 µl vial and is validated for use in Western blot, dot blot, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, and virus neutralising assays. The antibody enables detection of viral protease expression in cell culture and recombinant systems, supporting studies of polyprotein processing, viral maturation, and resistance to protease inhibitors. For handling, aliquot upon arrival and store at -20 °C, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve reagent performance.
