Anti-HIV1 p55 + p17 Antibody

The Guinea pig polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com recognizes the HIV-1 Gag polyprotein precursor p55 (approximately 55 kDa) along with its N-terminal matrix cleavage product p17 (~17 kDa). The Gag precursor is processed by the viral protease during virion maturation, releasing the structural proteins that drive assembly and budding of infectious particles. This polyclonal reagent detects both the unprocessed precursor and the mature cleavage fragment, supporting studies of Gag processing kinetics, viral morphogenesis, and protease inhibitor screening. Recommended applications include Western blot of viral lysates and transfected cell extracts, dot blot screening, immunoprecipitation of Gag-containing complexes, and ELISA-based quantitation.
