The clone 163 monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets the p24 capsid protein of Human Immunodeficiency Virus type 1, a 24 kDa structural component that forms the viral core and appears early in the course of infection. Produced in mouse hosts as an IgG1 isotype and supplied unconjugated, this reagent supports both ELISA and Western Blot workflows in virology and immunology laboratories studying retroviral protein biology. The lyophilised preparation contains 100 µg of antibody per vial, allowing flexible reconstitution in buffer of the researcher's choice and stable storage at recommended refrigeration temperatures without activity loss across multiple freeze-thaw cycles. Because the p24 antigen is highly conserved among HIV-1 isolates and abundantly expressed during viral replication, monoclonal reagents directed against it are widely used to track capsid assembly, monitor viral protein expression in transfected cells, and develop diagnostic antigen detection assays. The unconjugated format is particularly versatile: researchers can directly conjugate the antibody to fluorophores for imaging, to enzymes for chromogenic detection, or to biotin for streptavidin-based signal amplification depending on the downstream assay design. As a mouse IgG1 subclass reagent, it is also compatible with the broad range of standard anti-mouse secondary antibodies, HRP conjugates, and labelled detection reagents used across immunoblotting and plate-based immunoassay platforms.
