HFE (also known as HLA-H) is a non-classical MHC class I-like transmembrane glycoprotein that regulates cellular iron uptake by binding the transferrin receptor and modulating hepcidin expression. Mutations in HFE are the most common genetic cause of hereditary hemochromatosis, an iron-overload disorder.
This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a 100 µL vial aliquot. It specifically detects human HFE and is validated for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows, supporting studies of iron metabolism, transferrin-receptor signalling, and disease-associated variants in patient-derived tissue samples. The unconjugated format allows users to pair it with secondary antibodies of their choice for fluorescence or chromogenic detection. Aliquot the antibody upon receipt and freeze long-term to minimise freeze-thaw cycles and preserve binding activity. Research use only.
