Hexokinase-2 (HK2) catalyzes the first committed step of glycolysis and anchors to the outer mitochondrial membrane via its N-terminal region, where it binds the voltage-dependent anion channel. This mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody targets that N-terminal domain of HK2 and is supplied by Antibodies.com in a 100 µl volume as an unconjugated reagent. Validated for Western blot and flow cytometry, it cross-reacts with human, mouse, and rat samples, giving researchers a broadly applicable reagent for studies of glucose metabolism, the Warburg effect in tumor cells, and mitochondrial function.

HK2 is overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, and prostate cancer relative to normal tissue, which is why it draws sustained interest in cancer metabolism research. The unconjugated format leaves secondary antibody selection open: HRP-conjugated anti-mouse IgG for chemiluminescent Western blot, or fluorophore-conjugated secondary reagents for multi-color flow cytometry panels. Monoclonal IgG1 minimizes background and supports consistent signal across experiments, including time-course studies of HK2 induction under hypoxia and comparisons between tumor-derived and normal cell lines. For handling, refrigerated storage preserves activity; small aliquots reduce freeze-thaw loss. Intended for research use only.
