Glycoprotein D (gD) is the receptor-binding envelope protein of Herpes Simplex Virus, mediating viral attachment and entry through interactions with host surface molecules including HVEM, nectin-1, and 3-O-sulfated heparan sulfate. This unconjugated mouse monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against the HSV-gD antigen and supplied as a 500 µg aliquot of Protein G-purified immunoglobulin in IgG2a(k) format.

Validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence assay (IFA) workflows, the reagent supports detection of gD expression in HSV-infected cell lysates, fixed cell monolayers, and infected-tissue cryosections. Research applications include mapping neutralizing epitopes for subunit vaccine design, profiling viral-entry mechanisms, screening antiviral compounds that block gD-receptor engagement, and building diagnostic assays for clinical virology laboratories.

Because the antibody is unconjugated, it pairs flexibly with user-chosen secondary reporters — HRP, Alexa Fluor, or biotinylated anti-mouse IgG — for chromogenic Western blot, indirect immunofluorescence, or signal-amplified ELISA-style detection. Each preparation is Protein G purified to lower non-specific background and confirm clonality, helping researchers generate reproducible data across studies of HSV-1 and HSV-2 tropism, lytic-cycle kinetics, and gD-specific cellular immunology.
