Hepatitis E virus ORF2 encodes the viral capsid protein, the major structural component of the virion and a primary target for serological detection of HEV. The reagent is unconjugated and of the IgG1 isotype, making it appropriate as a capture or detection antibody in ELISA-based workflows aimed at identifying HEV antigen in research specimens. Because the antibody is lyophilised, reconstitution in sterile distilled water or a suitable buffer is recommended before use, and aliquoting the reconstituted stock helps limit repeated freeze-thaw cycles that can erode binding activity.
