HDAC8 is a class I, zinc-dependent deacetylase that removes acetyl groups from lysine residues on histone and non-histone substrates. Its activity connects HDAC8 to chromatin organization, transcription, cell-cycle progression, smooth-muscle contractility, and cortical neuronal development. Researchers can use this antibody to assess endogenous HDAC8 abundance in whole-cell lysates by western blot, where a protein band of approximately 42 kDa may be observed, or to capture HDAC8-containing complexes by immunoprecipitation for analysis of associated proteins. The polyclonal format recognizes multiple epitopes, while the unconjugated formulation allows selection of a compatible secondary detection reagent.
