Hepcidin, the liver-derived peptide hormone encoded by the HAMP gene, can be detected in human and mouse samples with this rabbit polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com, supplied as an unconjugated 50 µl aliquot validated for Western blot (WB). The antibody targets a key regulator of systemic iron homeostasis, supporting research into anemia of chronic disease, hereditary hemochromatosis, inflammation-driven iron handling, and related metabolic disorders.

Hepcidin controls iron efflux by binding and degrading the iron exporter ferroportin, linking hepatic iron sensing to duodenal absorption and macrophage iron release. Endogenous HAMP expression in cell lysates and tissue homogenates therefore serves as a useful readout for studies of interleukin-6 (IL-6)-mediated inflammation and for investigations of iron-loading anemias and ferroportin disease. The polyclonal IgG format offers recognition of multiple epitopes on the prohepcidin precursor and mature peptide, which is helpful when working with limited antigen or across species.

On receipt, aliquot the antibody and store at -20 °C in a manual-defrost freezer; protect from light and limit freeze-thaw cycles to preserve activity across long-term use.
