Anti-HAMP Antibody

Raised in rabbit against the hepcidin antimicrobial peptide encoded by the HAMP gene, this unconjugated polyclonal IgG reagent from Antibodies.com is supplied at 200 µl for Western blot detection of endogenous HAMP in human and mouse samples. Hepcidin is the liver-derived master regulator of systemic iron homeostasis: it binds the iron exporter ferroportin and triggers its internalization and degradation, thereby limiting intestinal iron uptake and macrophage iron release. Altered HAMP expression contributes to hereditary hemochromatosis, anemia of inflammation, and iron-loading anemias, making robust antibody-based detection of the peptide central to iron-metabolism research.

As a polyclonal reagent, this antibody recognizes multiple epitopes across the preprohepcidin precursor and mature processed forms, which is useful when probing both full-length and cleaved species by Western blot under standard reducing SDS-PAGE conditions.
