The monoclonal antibody clone 5C6 from Antibodies.com targets the cytotoxin-associated gene A (CagA) protein of Helicobacter pylori, a major virulence determinant linked to gastric inflammation, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric adenocarcinoma. Produced in mouse as an IgG1 isotype and supplied unconjugated in lyophilised 100 µg vials, this reagent is validated for ELISA detection of CagA in bacterial lysates and clinical specimens from H. pylori-infected individuals. Researchers investigating microbial pathogenesis, gastric cancer risk stratification, and Helicobacter epidemiology use this antibody to confirm the virulence status of clinical isolates and to distinguish CagA-positive strains, which carry a higher risk of severe gastric pathology, from less virulent strains lacking the pathogenicity island. Reconstitute the lyophilised pellet with sterile buffer prior to first use, aliquot to limit freeze-thaw cycles, and store refrigerated between experiments to maintain reagent activity across multiple assays.
