This recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibody from Antibodies.com specifically detects glycogen synthase 1 (GYS1) when phosphorylated at serine 641, a regulatory site that controls glycogen synthesis activity downstream of GSK-3 kinase signaling in the insulin pathway.

The reagent is supplied as 100 µL of unconjugated antibody in a buffer containing 1×TBS (pH 7.4), 1% BSA, 40% glycerol, and 0.05% sodium azide as preservative, and is intended for research use only. Validated applications include Western blot, immunocytochemistry, and immunohistochemistry on human and mouse samples, making it useful for studies of insulin-stimulated glucose disposal, skeletal muscle glycogen metabolism, and metabolic disease models including type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance.

Because S641 phosphorylation inactivates the enzyme while dephosphorylation reactivates glycogen synthesis, this phospho-specific reagent is commonly used to monitor acute insulin signaling responses in myotubes, hepatocytes, and skeletal muscle tissue. Aliquoting upon receipt and storage at -20 °C is recommended to preserve phospho-epitope recognition and minimize freeze-thaw cycles.
