GYS1 encodes the muscle isoform of glycogen synthase, the rate-limiting enzyme that transfers glucose from UDP-glucose into α-1,4-linked glycogen chains. This polyclonal reagent from Antibodies.com is raised in rabbit and supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/mL in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol as a cryoprotectant, packaged as a 100 µL aliquot for use in western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.
In research settings, the antibody supports studies of glycogen metabolism, insulin signaling, and exercise physiology. The unconjugated format allows direct labeling or pairing with secondary reporters of choice, and the glycerol-containing buffer permits storage at -20 °C with minimal freeze-thaw handling. Investigators working on glycogen storage disease type 0, diabetes models, and skeletal muscle energy handling use GYS1 detection to monitor enzyme expression and phosphorylation status, with the expected western blot band appearing near 84 kDa.
