This rabbit polyclonal primary antibody from Antibodies.com targets GUSB, the lysosomal hydrolase β-glucuronidase that cleaves terminal glucuronic acid residues from glycosaminoglycans during mucopolysaccharide catabolism. The unconjugated IgG reagent is supplied as a 50 µl liquid vial in phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.4) containing 150 mM NaCl, 0.02% sodium azide, and 50% glycerol, and is validated for Western blot detection of the ~74 kDa endogenous protein in human, mouse, and rat samples.

Loss-of-function defects in GUSB cause mucopolysaccharidosis type VII (Sly syndrome), and the antibody is therefore used in lysosomal storage disease research and in studies of hepatic and renal enzyme processing. Because β-glucuronidase is also widely adopted as a reporter gene in gene-transfer, transplantation, and lineage-tracing workflows, the reagent serves as a practical marker for confirming transduction efficiency or tracking labeled cell populations in vivo.

For handling, the antibody is shipped at 4°C and should be aliquoted upon first thaw and stored at -20°C to limit freeze-thaw cycles of the stock. Standard Western blot protocols pair the rabbit host species directly with HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated anti-rabbit secondary antibodies, and the polyclonal format improves the chance of detecting the target across multiple epitopes when expression is modest or the protein is being surveyed in a new sample type. Synonyms: Beta-G1, beta-glucuronidase. For research use only.
