Gelsolin (GSN) is a calcium-activated actin-modulating protein found in both cytoplasmic and extracellular (plasma) compartments, where it caps, severs, and nucleates actin filaments. The Anti-GSN reagent from Antibodies.com is a rabbit polyclonal IgG raised against this target and supplied as 200 µl of unconjugated antiserum, allowing research users to pair it with their own HRP- or fluorophore-conjugated secondary antibodies. It detects endogenous gelsolin in human, mouse, and rat samples and is validated for Western blot and immunofluorescence workflows. The polyclonal format broadens epitope coverage, which is useful when probing caspase-mediated cleavage products or post-translationally modified gelsolin isoforms. Typical research uses include cytoskeletal remodeling studies, characterization of cell motility and migration, investigations of plasma gelsolin as a biomarker in inflammatory and trauma-associated conditions, and validation of knock-down phenotypes in cultured cell lines. For Western blot, blocking buffers and antibody dilution should be optimized to the chosen chemiluminescent or fluorescent detection system, and for immunofluorescence, fixation and detergent permeabilization conditions should be tested against the sample type. The 200 µl volume supports routine screening and multiple iterative experiments, and the reagent is shipped under standard cold-chain conditions to preserve IgG stability.
