The Antibodies.com polyclonal antibody targets GRK1 (G protein-coupled Receptor Kinase 1), a serine/threonine kinase most prominently expressed in retinal rod photoreceptors, where it phosphorylates activated rhodopsin to terminate the phototransduction cascade. The unconjugated reagent is raised in rabbit and supplied as a 100 µl liquid aliquot at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, ready for direct use in Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human, mouse, and rat samples.

Because loss-of-function mutations in GRK1 cause Oguchi disease, a recessive form of congenital stationary night blindness, this reagent is commonly used in vision research laboratories studying photoreceptor signaling, retinal degeneration models, and recovery kinetics of the photoresponse. Polyclonal antibodies recognise multiple epitopes across the kinase domain, which can be useful when probing truncated variants or evaluating expression changes in knockout tissue compared with wild-type littermate controls.

For storage, the glycerol-containing buffer protects the protein against freeze-thaw damage; aliquot upon first thaw if repeated use is anticipated, and store at -20 °C in the dark to preserve activity. Sodium azide is included as a microbial preservative, so handle with appropriate laboratory waste disposal procedures.
