Produced in rabbit as an unconjugated polyclonal reagent, this Antibodies.com primary antibody recognizes G protein-coupled receptor kinase 1 (GRK1), the retinal rhodopsin kinase responsible for phosphorylating photoactivated rhodopsin during the visual phototransduction cascade. The immunogen corresponds to the A17 region of the target protein, making the reagent well suited to studies of photoreceptor signaling, retinal development, and retinal disease models such as Oguchi stationary night blindness, where loss-of-function variants in GRK1 disrupt rod recovery. Validated applications include Western blot and immunohistochemistry, with reactivity confirmed in human, mouse, and rat samples, supporting expression profiling, tissue localization, and comparative retinal studies across species. The antibody is supplied as 50 µl of a 1 mg/ml stock in phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH approximately 7.2, with 0.05% sodium azide as a preservative. For storage, keep the vial refrigerated and protected from light; aliquot if repeated freeze-thaw cycles are anticipated. The unconjugated format allows end users to choose their own secondary detection chemistry, from HRP and fluorescent reporters to biotin-streptavidin systems, and supports both chromogenic and fluorescence-based IHC workflows on formalin-fixed retinal sections as well as standard immunoblotting of retinal lysates.
