This polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com targets G protein-coupled receptor kinase 1 (GRK1), also known as rhodopsin kinase, a 65 kDa serine/threonine kinase essential for terminating the phototransduction cascade in retinal photoreceptors.

Raised in rabbit and supplied at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) with 0.05% sodium azide (approx. pH 7.2), the unconjugated reagent is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry on human, mouse, and rat samples. The 100 µl vial supports multiple blotting membranes and a series of tissue sections for retinal mapping experiments.

GRK1 phosphorylates activated rhodopsin and cone opsins, quenching their signaling state and enabling rapid recovery of photoreceptor sensitivity after light exposure. Loss-of-function variants are linked to Oguchi disease, a recessive form of congenital stationary night blindness, making this reagent useful for studies of retinal degeneration, phototransduction kinetics, and visual cycle biology. Researchers probing rod outer segment preparations, retinal whole mounts, or retinal pigment epithelium co-cultures commonly use anti-GRK1 to confirm photoreceptor-specific expression and to track kinase localization under light- and dark-adapted conditions.

For the liquid format, store refrigerated and protect from light; aliquot to minimize freeze-thaw cycles during long-term storage. The polyclonal nature of the reagent provides broad epitope coverage, increasing the likelihood of detection across GRK1 isoforms encountered in retinal and, at lower levels, non-retinal tissues, and the unconjugated formulation leaves the antibody available for downstream labeling with fluorophores, biotin, or HRP as required by each assay design.
