Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI), the cytosolic enzyme that interconverts glucose-6-phosphate and fructose-6-phosphate during glycolysis, is the target of this rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com. Beyond its classical metabolic role, GPI also functions extracellularly as a cytokine and is known by the alternative names autocrine motility factor and neuroleukin. In immunology, GPI is best known as the autoantigen recognized in the K/BxN mouse model of inflammatory arthritis, and it has been implicated in tumor cell motility, metastasis, and angiogenesis.

The antibody is supplied unconjugated at 1 mg/ml in PBS with 0.1% sodium azide and 50% glycerol, packaged as a 100 µl vial that provides enough material for multiple Western blot and immunohistochemistry experiments. It cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, and Rat GPI, supporting comparative studies of expression in normal and diseased tissues across species. Because the product is unconjugated, laboratories can conjugate it in-house to HRP, biotin, or fluorophores for tailored detection in downstream assays.

Validated applications include Western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence on cell culture samples and tissue sections. For short-term storage, keep aliquots refrigerated; for longer-term storage, keep frozen and protect from repeated freeze-thaw cycles. The sodium azide in the formulation acts as a microbial preservative.
