This rabbit polyclonal reagent targets G-protein-coupled bile acid receptor 1 (GPBAR1), a membrane-bound receptor responsive to secondary bile acids and known by several aliases including TGR5 and M-BAR. Raised in rabbit and supplied as an unconjugated IgG preparation at 1 mg/ml in phosphate buffered saline (pH 7.2) containing 15 mM sodium azide, this primary antibody is provided by Antibodies.com as a 100 µl vial, formatted for Western blot detection in human, mouse, and rat sample lysates.
GPBAR1 couples ligand binding to intracellular Gαs signaling, raising cAMP and triggering downstream effector activity. The receptor is widely expressed in enteroendocrine L-cells, brown adipose tissue, hepatic sinusoidal endothelial cells, gallbladder epithelium, Kupffer cells, and select neuronal populations, and is studied in the context of glucagon-like peptide-1 release, mitochondrial energy expenditure, macrophage polarization, and biliary homeostasis. Researchers investigating metabolic syndrome, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, type 2 diabetes, primary biliary cholangitis, or intestinal barrier function routinely use Western blotting to examine GPBAR1 expression and downstream signaling at the protein level.
For Western blot applications, expected detection falls near the receptor's predicted molecular weight of approximately 35 kDa. The product is supplied at 1 mg/ml in a 100 µl volume, providing ample reagent for multiple blot experiments. Storage guidance: refrigerate the vial on receipt; aliquot and freeze at –20 °C for longer-term storage, avoiding repeated freeze-thaw cycles to preserve antibody activity. Sodium azide is included as a preservative at 15 mM and is generally compatible with standard immunoblotting workflows, though appropriate handling precautions should be observed given its reactivity with copper and lead plumbing.
