Raised in rabbit against the GOLGA2 target, this unconjugated polyclonal antibody is supplied as a 100 µl aliquot and is suited for western blot, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence workflows across human, mouse, and rat samples. GOLGA2, also referred to as GM130, is a peripheral membrane protein of the cis-Golgi matrix that anchors the stacking of Golgi cisternae and participates in tethering coatomer protein I (COPI) vesicles during retrograde transport to the Golgi. Because of this well-defined localization, anti-GOLGA2 reagents from Antibodies.com have become standard markers of cis-Golgi integrity in cell biology, where they are used to track Golgi fragmentation during apoptosis, mitotic entry, and infection by viruses such as poliovirus and SARS-CoV-2 that dismantle the secretory pathway. Researchers also apply GM130 labelling alongside TGN46 or calreticulin staining to resolve cis-, medial-, and trans-Golgi subcompartments in co-localization studies and confocal imaging of polarized cells. The reagent detects the endogenous protein on immunoblots at the expected ~130 kDa band, stains fixed cells with a perinuclear juxtanuclear pattern characteristic of intact Golgi ribbons, and is commonly paired with markers of the endoplasmic reticulum and endosomes when dissecting membrane trafficking routes.
