Anti-GNE Antibody

This rabbit polyclonal antibody from Antibodies.com is raised against GNE, the bifunctional enzyme UDP-N-acetylglucosamine 2-epimerase/N-acetylmannosamine kinase that catalyzes the first two committed steps of sialic acid (Neu5Ac) biosynthesis. The unconjugated reagent is supplied as 100 µl of polyclonal antiserum and is validated for Western blot and immunohistochemistry workflows on human and mouse samples, supporting studies of GNE myopathy (also known as hereditary inclusion body myopathy), sialuria, and other disorders linked to altered sialylation. Because GNE operates at the branch point of the hexosamine pathway that feeds the sialic acid pool, this reagent is also useful for investigating glycoprotein hyposialylation, cytoskeletal remodeling in distal myopathies, and the metabolic consequences of epimerase or kinase domain dysfunction in patient-derived cells or knockout tissue.
